"Illustrated book with 220 colour woodcuts on Vergé des Rives paper, a partially washed pencil drawing and a handwritten letter by Joris-Karl Huysmans, in splendid Art Nouveau binding,with gilt-edges in original slipcase. Drawing signed in pencil lower right, numbered 18/130 in the imprint. Publisher: Pour les Cent Bibliophiles, Paris 1903.
Each page decorated with a figure or ornament. The typographic typeface was specially designed by Georges Auriol and engraved by Georges Peignot. The edition also contains a long, previously unpublished preface by Huymans.
Signed master binding by R. D. Canape. Unique. Dark blue Maroquin leather with inlaid Art Nouveau ornamentation in gold, green, purple and brown tones. With embossed spine. Endpapers in leather and silk embossed with gold.
Beautiful copy of the Art Nouveau style, preserved in a harmonious, lined and decorated binding by R. D. Canape.
