H. 21,7 cm
On a double lotus in meditation seat, both hands are folded in front of the chest in adoration, the hair combed up. The figure painted black, the base gilded over black lacquer.
European private collection, collected before 2007.
The figure belongs to the group of the Four Bosatsu (shijô bosatsu), who together asked Buddha Shakyamuni for the interpretation of the Lotus Sutra. They are placed on either side of a tahôtô pagoda. Although they all have names, they are all alike in appearance
A radiocarbon test C 14 confirms the dating, the calibrated calender age is ca. 1305 - 1402 AD
