Description:

China, probably Song dynasty
D. 7,5 cm
The ornamentation of this disc intended as a pendant in the form of two rings connected by a ribbon of snaking dragons has its origin in the Han period. The ingenious arrangement of the seven dragon bodies visible from both sides with detailed surface engraving makes this work special.
Important Austrian private collection, acquired in the 1980s from an old Cantonese private collection
