The centre depicts Buddha Shakyamuni seated in vajrasana on a lotus-base placed on a throne with his right hand lowered in bhumisparshamudra while the left is resting on his lap, wearing monastic garment, his face displaying a serene expression, double mandorla behind, flanked by Sariputra and Maudgalyayana, above him are placed three Drukpa lamas, surrounded by thirty-four Buddha’s of the Past, each with their name inscribed in gold and all are placed in a stylized mountainous landscape, in brocade mounting.
Important German private collection, assembled in the 1970s and 80s, some bought from Schoettle East Asian Art, Stuttgart, the first Thangka with Schoettle number 3745, purchased ca. 1981 - Together with another thangka, Tibet, 19th c. with Buddha Shakyamuni in silk mounting
