China, Qing dynasty, early 19th ct.ca. 408 x 345 cm
Strong orange-red silk embroidered with colored silk and gold threads. Lining: Red silk. In the central part groups of large figures, also in the upper gallery. At the sides the Hundred Antiquities, at the bottom, a pavilion with the Elixir of Immortality, flanked by cranes and deer. All sections are framed by meander borders. This hanging was made for a birthday celebration in a palace.
