Wood, vegetal fibre, pigment and shell. “Malangan” is the collective name for a series of cemenonies, masks as well as carvings, associated with the funeral and initiation ceremonies. These carvings are among the most technically complex carvings in Oceanic art and are commissioned from carving experts. They depict figures from clan mythology.
