Pigment on cotton. The painting depicts the autumnal Hindu "Annakuta Festival" (Govardhan Puja), during which large quantities of food, especially rice, are set up in front of "Shrinathji (Krishna as a seven-year-old child) as a donation. The donation is made to "Shrinathji" in gratitude for His protection when he raised Mount Govardhan to protect the people of Vrindavan from heavy showers. The food mountain represents Mount Govardhan in this context. "Shrinatji" is worshipped by priests and devotees. In the foreground a herd of cows, referring to the youthful Krishna as a cowherd. Around the sides, depictions of various manifestations of "Shrinathji".
