Pigments on cotton. "Gopashtami" is a Hindu festival that commemorates the day the God "Krishna" was promoted to the rank of a cowherd from a young herder of calves. "Krishna" is depicted in a showcase in his incarnation as "Shrinathji" and surrounded by a herd of white "kamadhenu" cows. On the festival of "Gopashtami" one offers prayers to the cows adorning them with saffron and tumeric. "Krishna" is known as the eternal protector of cows.
