A JADE CARVING 'CONG'

China, probably Eastern Zhou dynasty, ca. 471-256 B.C.

Pure green-yellow, translucent jade with remnants of vermilion along some fine cracks in the stone, pierced, with a very finely carved spiral pattern along the four sides.
