China, late Ming dynasty
H. 26,5 (31,5) cm
Standing in firm posture with both feet apart, his hands clasped in front of his chest in anjalimudra, wearing armour, wide-sleeved tunic, scarf floating around his head with its streamers encircling both arms and their finials curling up, pair of trousers and boots, his face displaying a severe expression with open eyes below arched eyebrows running into the nose-bridge and his head topped with a helmet decorated with a plume, on wood base.
From the estate of the collection of the Consul General Dr. Karl Bernauer (1867-1929), collected in China between 1902 and 1915 and since then in family possession - Minor wear few, very small repairs
