Light, beige-coloured stone. About five hundred and fifty of these "masks" are known from the region of Teotihuacan (city of the gods), but their exact function has not been clarified beyond doubt. These facial representations were certainly not worn as masks, but could have been used in the cult of ancestors and the dead or in the cult of gods. Four fixing holes on the side. Originally, contrasting inlays of stone or shell were attached in the area of the eyes and mouth.
