Japan, early Edo period41,5 x 77 x 36 cm
The rectangular chest with a domed hinged cover, decorated in gold hiramaki-e on a black ground. The front and the cover decorated with animals in landscape scenes such as a group of deers and a pair of wild geese by a shore with bamboo and a flowering tree.The interior with brownish lacquer., the outside partiallly with decorative copper-gilt fittings engraved with stylized flowers and scrolls. On both sides metall handles.
