Japan, Edo period
H. 10,4 cm
Stoneware, ferruginous red body with an iron glaze, partly with black parts, a cast-on with an antracite-black matte glaze and two splashes of a white, heavily crackled glaze. Inside unglazed. In the shape of a vase, the upper part in calabash form, with small ear handles (mimitsuki). Turning grooves and an engraved wavy line. Underside recessed and here two engraved short lines, possibly a potter's mark. Matching pouch (shifuku) made of striped rep fabric.
