Greyish stoneware covered with a creamy white and finely crackled glaze. Glazed transparent on the outside and on the foot ring. Matching wooden box (kiri-bako) with yellow ribbons and bag (yasume-bukuro) of purple padded crepe silk.
Formerly from a German private collection, acquired before 2007 - Traces of use
Bowl (hira gata) in typical wide summer shape with thin body, on a short wide stand ring. Turned on the potter's wheel and with visible traces of the process. Inside five firing spur marks. The bowl (natsu chawan) has developed an extremely attractive patina (hagi no nanabake) inside due to long use, reminiscent of clouds or flower shapes. Hagi pottery goes back to Korean models and is especially famous for its sabi-wabi quality
