Description:
Tibet, 16th cent.H. 18,5 cm
Seated in vajrasana on a lotus base with his arms crossed in front of his chest, the hands holding the vajra and ghanta, wearing dhoti fastened around his waist with a belt, cape draped around his shoulders, its streamers encircling his arms and their finials falling down on the base, both garments finely incised with scrolling tendrils and other floral motifs, bejewelled, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows that run into his nose-bridge, raised urna at his forehead, smiling lips, elongated earlobes with ear ornaments, his blue coloured hair combed in a chignon topped with the half-vajra emblem and secured with a five-leaf tiara decorated with a pair of pattras and floating ribbons, the reverse of the base with a dedicatory inscription in the Tibetan dBu.can script, unsealed.
