Adelgard Frehmann was born in Prittelbach near Munich in 1939. She completed her apprenticeship from 1957 to 1960 in the workshops of H. Wöhler in Göppingen and A. Silbermann in Stuttgart, where she also passed her journeyman's examination. Parallel to her training, she studied under Prof Fred Dries at the state technical college for precious metals in Schwäbisch Gemünd. Frehmann moved to Cologne in 1961 and worked there for jeweller Wagner, among others. In 1975, she and her husband Karl-Heinz Frehmann founded a joint goldsmith's studio in Gereonsmühlengasse.
