Monika and Horst Bülow – Highlights

Special auction for the benefit of the Bülow Foundation

Auction: November 11, 2025
Viewing: November 7 – November 10, 2025, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Nagel Auktionen presents the fall highlight 2025: The Monika and Horst Bülow Collection

Horst Bülow was a visionary with a clear compass, a steady hand and a keen sense for developments – long before they became apparent on the market. He shaped Bülow AG for decades: first as the founder of an engineering office for turnkey steel buildings, later as a project developer, investor and entrepreneur with an international reputation.

His wife Monika Bülow was inextricably linked to his life’s work. Part of the company since 1968, she became an indispensable partner – clever, energetic and versatile. As Deputy Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, she put her heart and soul into the hotel business.

What makes their collection so special is not only the rank of the works, but also the personal approach that underpinned every decision. For the Bülows, art was not a status symbol, but an expression of attitude, curiosity and aesthetic awareness.

Monika and Horst Bülow became involved in environmental and species protection early on out of deep personal conviction. Their shared “love of the sea” led them to the WWF Living Planet Club. As regatta sailors, nature lovers and patrons, they have supported regional projects such as the Lynx Info Point in the Upper Danube Valley and insect conservation in the Southern Black Forest biosphere reserve.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the Bülow Foundation, which has been committed to the protection of nature and biodiversity for many years.
