Inscribed 'jiayin zhongdong ma shaoxian zuo' (painted by Ma Shaoxian in the 11th month of the year jiayin [1914], sealed 'shao'. Ma Kuan (1889-1961), sobriquet Kuoting, pseudonym Ma Shaoxian, was a nephew of Ma Shaoxuan (1867-1939), a famous master of inside-painting.
