China, Qing dynasty, late 19th ct.L. 315 cm, B. 216 cm
Silk gauze embroidered with appliquéd gold threads and dark silk. The Shou medallions in the pattern are an indication that this robe was made for a birthday celebration. Robes from silk gauze were worn in high summer.
