He is seated in the centre of the painting in vajrasana on a lotus-base placed on a throne, his right hand in bhumisparshamudra while the left is resting on his lap supporting the alms-bowl, wearing monastic garment painted with flower-heads, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes, an elaborate back-slab behind him, flanked by Maudgalyayana and Sariputra, both holding a mendicant-staff and alms-bowl, the upper section with an arhat in each corner and the lower part with a pair of lamas flanking an table with various offerings, in brocade mounting.
