Three-part baluster vase, the neck and the body removable. On a flared round base and square plinth. Gilt brass and bronze mounts. Two goat heads with garlands as handles. Metal liner. Slight signs of age. Minor wear.
This elaborate vase of considerable dimensions has the specialty that it was made from scagliola, an ancient technique that allows the imitation of semi-precious or precious stones. It is obtained from a very fine plaster mixed with colours. In this case, the optics of the green Alpine marble is succeded with impressive realism.
