From an old Southern German aristocratic family.
The Messbach estate belongs to the municipality of Dörzbach in the administrative district of Künzelsau in northern Württemberg. Since the Middle Ages it has had an eventful history and numerous owners. In 1845, Meßbach was made so-called "Fideikommiss" to prevent the splitting up of the inheritance and thus of a family's possessions and property.
The Fideikommiss (translated from the Latin to "leave in trust [hands]") is an institution of inheritance and property law, according to which the assets of a family, mostly real estate, should be preserved forever by foundation and only one family member alone, the entail owner who held the usufruct.
