Japan, late Edo period
H. 42 cm (Figur 33,5 cm)
Seated with legs crossed on a lotus-base placed on a throne, her principle hands in anjalimudra while the other sixteen radiate along her body, wearing skirt draped in folds around the legs, cape, bejewelled, her face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes, raised urna at the fore-head, her hairdo combed in a chignon topped with a crown and placed within a reliquary shrine with a pair of doors decorated with gilt-brass mountings and lock.
