Vietnam, ca. 19th c.H. 35 cm
Each standing on a lotus-base, the male with the arms in front of him, the female with raised arms covering her face with the long sleeves of their mantles, the latter falling down in heavy pleats on their shoed feet and secured around the middle with a belt, the face of one displaying a serene expression and both heads topped with a hat, traces of black-lacquer.
From an old German private collection (a commercial agent in Asia), collected in the 1970s and 80s
