The present specimens both have beveled fronts and are decorated with turquoise and jade pieces, as well as gold and silver inlays in niello technique in a typical touch, as they were made for wealthy and high-ranking personalities in the Zhangguo period, despite all political turmoil. Their dense, mosaic-like ornaments show abstract geometric and floral motifs arranged around central flower forms.
