Alternating figurative representations and inscriptions. 1) Two Qiao sisters and Wang Xizhi with goose. Cyclically dated yiwei year (1895) and signed Fang Jiazhen. 2) A pair of phoenix birds under a wutong tree and a official with his servant. Cyclically dated gengxu year (1910) and signed He Mao. 3) Shoulao and Magu, Landscape, prunus flowers and bamboo. Cyclically dated renxu year (1922) and signed Gunan Ma Qingyun. Underneath a red seal. 4) Two ladies and a lion with cub. Signed Hu Hengmao.
Formerly from an old German private collection, acquired before 2007 - Fang Jiazhen was active in the Guangxu period and worked in the Imperial porcelain manufactory. Ma Qingyun was active in the late Qing Dynasty to early Republic period and was one of the four well-known 'Qianjiang' masters of the early Republic period
Painting partially rubbed, smaller bumps on the edges, one handle damaged
