Off-white silk, embroidered with colored silk in satin stitch. The embroidery shows landscapes with buildings, bridges and various people at a larger stretch of water. Possibly the depiction refers to the famous Ten Scenes on the West Lake. Along the bottom edge, an inscription is woven into the silk: "Made by Zhe Hang Taobao (probably a manufactory in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province), satin for the Warehouse of the Imperial Household Department".
From a South German private collection, in the family estate since the early 20th century
Traces of age, little water damage at the side, a little browned and faded
