Scholar under Tree. Silk mounting, ink and light colors on paper. Signature by the artist: “In midwinter of the renwu year (2002), Zengxian.” Three seals of the artist: “Fang Zengxian yin”, “Zengxian shuhua” etc.
According to the owners, from a private collection in Hesse, collected between 1970 and 2015
Fang Zengxian was Associate Professor at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts. He studied at the East China Branch College of the Central Academy of fine Arts in Hangzhou and excelled in oil paintings and sketches. Later he turned to figures in the traditional ink-wash manner
