Description:

China, ca. 17th/ 18th c.
H. 35 cm
The pear-shaped body standing on a tall splayed foot. The waisted neck applied with a pair of enameled mythical taotie-mask-handles suspending loose rings. The body with wide bands of taotie, lotus scrolls, tendrils, eight treasure symbols and pendent lappets, all enameled in vibrant turquoise, cobalt blue, yellow, red, green, and white.
Former European private collection, acquired prior to 2007 - Signs of age, partially slightly wear, in the body area some repairs - Cf. Hu vase of the same type sold at Sotheby's New York, Imperial Cloisonné & Jade: Chinese Art from the Brooklyn Museum, 17 March 2021, lot 16
