China, 18th/ early 19th c.

Imperial yellow and dark blue satin silk embroidered with colored silk in satin stitch and gold thread in appliqué technique. Uppermost a dark blue ribbon for hanging. The curtains each consist of a lower part with a large golden dragon around a flaming pearl and a smaller upper part with a similar design. The upper part is pleated, and above the lower one two separate bands are hanging, decorated with golden smaller dragons reaching upward. Between the spherical connected clouds are Shou characters, red bats and the Eight Buddhist Treasures, also on the dark blue frame.
