Mother with child and two water buffaloes. Ink and light colours on paper, mounted as a hanging scroll.
Long inscription, signed "drawn by He Zhengxi on the tenth day of the eighth month of the dingmao year [1927] in Beijing at the age of 56". Artist's seal: "Xi" and another seal: "Yi ... Duo". Old sticker from the cultural goods company on the staff.

A woman carrying a child on her back stands in a door made of bamboo under huge green willows. In front of her, two water buffaloes are bathing in a pond. The depiction of the woman and the buffaloes shows clear influences of European painting techniques. - Very minor wear, few creases, very minor damage
