Ren Yi, style name Bonian, was a figure painter from Shaoxing in Zhejiang province. His father was a portrait painter, but died early. Ren Yi went to Shanghai, became the pupil of the brothers Ren Xiong and Ren Xun and became the most famous painter of figures and narrative scenes of the late 19th century - Traces of age
