Calligraphy in seal script after the stone drum inscriptions. Ink on paper, mounted and framed under glass. Signature: "beginning of autumn of the dinghai year [1947], Yinmo". Two artist's seals: "Shen Yinmo", "Zhuxi Shen shi".

Shen Yinmo (1883-1971) was a Chinese poet and calligrapher. He was born in Hanyin, Shaanxi Province and went to Japan to study. He has participated in the New Culture Movement and published his poems written in the new vernacular style (Baihua). Two works that made him famous were "Sanxian" and "Qiuming Ji". He was a great calligrapher who mastered a full range of styles going all the way back to the Song Dynasty artists and was known with Yu Youren (1879-1964) together as "South Shen, North Yu". He was a professor in several universitites, and later became president of Beiping University and Deputy Head of the Central Culture Bureau after the establishment of the People's Republic
