Carved in standing position, dressed in a simple robe, holding a flute in his left hand. On his head he carries a beehive. Komusô monks collected donations by playing the shakuhachi flute.To remain unrecognised, they would wear behives on their heads.Ivory, partly stained in red, blue and black.
