Wild geese. Ink and few colors on paper, mounted as a hanging scroll. Signature: "In the early winter of the bingxu year [1946] Zhang Jianqiu" and an artist's seal: "Qichuan Yeren". Two collector's seals: "Shijie wei jia", "Wushengshan yi ren. Antique shop label.
From a North German private collection, acquired before 2000. Export wax seal of 1950s attached - Minor wear, inscription partly removed
Zhang Jianqiu was from Lüping, Shandaong Province, and served as an officer in the Beiyang government (1912-1928). He was friends with many well-known artists of the time such as Qi Baishi, Wang Daoyuan etc.
