Pheasants among Magnolias and Peonies, Ink and colors on paper, mounted as hanging scroll. Five word poem by the artist and signature: “Bao Dong.” One seal of the artist: „Seal of Bao Dong” (Bao Dong yin).
From a European private collection, acquired prior to 1990
Bao Dong, style name Ziliang, was from Shaoxing in Zhejiang province. He did paintings of figures, landscapes and birds and flowers. 1849 he painted an album with beautiful ladies and in 1866 a portrait of a high official.
