The Art Deco designs of the House of Lacloche in the Oriental and Asian styles that they presented at the major Paris exhibitions in 1925 and 1929 are almost legendary.
The house was founded in Madrid in 1875 by the brothers Leopold, Jacques, Jules and Fernand. At first, they purchased works from famous Parisian houses to sell in Spain, but soon added their own works. Branches are set up in the famous Spanish luxury resorts of San Sebastian and Biarritz, enhancing the reputation of the house.
In 1892 the company settles in Paris, and in 1900 Madrid is closed as a location. In 1904, they acquire the London jeweller Edwin Streeter, thus becoming the owners of the famous Agra diamond. During the First World War, Lacloche also acquired the London branch of Fabergé. In the Art Deco period, the house produced luxury items such as powder boxes, cases and watches with coloured enamel and precious stones. A very speciality of the house are the so-called Jabot Pins, a kind of collar pin mostly made in Asian style. Competitors Cartier, Boucheron and Van Cleef Arpels gratefully adopted these designs.
