In the centre of the composition Christ Emmanuel in an aureole carried by angels. Above him the Old Testament Trinity as well as the blessing God Sabaoth - depicted above the clouds as the white-clothed 'Ancient of Days' according to the vision of the prophet Ezekiel. On the left and right, Christ Emmanuel is framed by the Crucifixion as well as by the Mother of God of the Sign. In the upper two corners of the picture, two standing angels appear in front of an architectural backdrop, to be understood as the Heavenly Jerusalem. The lower two corners depict, on the left and right, the work of death as the oppressor of humanity and Christ's victory over death on the cross. On the left the demons are bound by an angel, on the right apocalyptic death rides over prostrate people.
