The Parisian goldsmiths Plisson et Hartz were among the most exquisite jewellers in the city at the end of the 19th century. In 1872, Plisson founded the company together with his partner Bottentuit. From 1886 onwards, Plisson was the sole owner of the company, before Hartz became a new partner in 1898. Hartz quickly became the creative mind behind the sometimes famous designs. When Plisson died in 1904, Hartz renamed the company Hartz et Cie.
