Cornelis Decker, a Haarlem painter in the middle of the 17th century, was particularly known for his forest landscapes, or better, for wooded river landscapes. Walther Bernt suspects the hand of Adriaen van Ostade in the figure scenery, peasants in a barge and in the field; the monogram R at the lower left should refer to Jacob van Ruisdael, but is by a later hand.
