Long shadows are cast by people and cattle, the boats of the river fishermen take in their sails, a weather is moving in from the west. An idyllic, evening scene that the German-Dutch painter Willem Schweickardt (born in Hamm, died in The Hague) knew how to capture in a romantic, contemplative manner.
