Born in Worms, Conrad Meit was in the service of the Saxon Elector Frederick III at the beginning of the 16th century; around 1505/06-09 he worked in Cranach's workshop on a monumental Madonna for the Elector's palace church. Later he worked for the Dutch court. Meit made the figures Adam and Eve from boxwood around 1510. Today they are in Gotha, Friedrichstein Palace Museum. Lit.
