This seal can be found on paintings that were intended for sale or disposal in the course of the liquidation of the painting stock in 1859-1861. According to information from the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, Dresden, the present painting is presumably the painting ‘Evangelist’, listed under no. 177 in the inventory, which was sold on 16 April 1860.
