China, marked L. Vrard & Co, Tientsin, late Qing/ early Republic periodB. 4,6 cm
18k yellow gold, hallmarked. Deeply engraved GG case in octagonal shape. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, Arabic minute track, small second and fine blued steel hands. Gilt cylinder movement with crown winding. Movement starts running, no guarantee for funtionality. Weight ca. 37g.
Old German private collection, acquired by tradition around 1918 to 1937 in Tientsin by a family member
L. Vrard & Co. were amongst the most eminent Swiss watchmakers specialized in watches for the Chinese Market, founded in 1860 under the name Laidrich & Vrard. As of 1862, the firm started its operations in Tientsin, followed by a branch in Shang hai which also represented Swiss watch manufacturer Bovet-Fleurier
