Description:
Central-India, 11th cent.H. 65,3 cm
The rectangular frieze is sculpted in high relief with the couple Umamaheshvara seated in lalitasana on a pedestal showing several worshippers to its front section, the four-armed Shiva embracing his consort Parvati, one hand holding lotus and another the trident, wearing dhoti, bejewelled, his face displaying a serene expression, his hair combed in the jatamakuta, a halo behind, Parvati is seated on his left upper leg, wearing sari, bejewelled, her face displaying as well a serene expression and the upper register with a pair of Gandharvas flanking an inscription with below probably Brahma and Vishnu.
