China, Ming dynastyH. 93 cm (109 cm mit Stand)
The compressed bulbous body raised on three sturdy cabriole legs issuing from lion mask supports, the narrow neck set with a pair of elegantly curved upright handles, the high domed cover with an openwork design below a large finial in the form of a seated Buddhist lion resting one paw on a ball, carved wood stand.
Old collection numbering inside on the edge in white colour: Wagner 1st - 1911/33
Private collection Constance, acquired in China before 1920 by repute, possibly 1911 as indicated with the inscription inside, acquired by the present owner 1996 from Herbert Credé (1930 - 2022), collector and art dealer near Lake Constance
