A THANGKA DEPICTING SYAMATARA

The centre of the painting depicting Syamatara seated in lalitasana on a lotus base with her right hand in varadamudra while the left is showing the vitarka gesture, both holding stems of lotuses flowering along her upper arms, her face displaying a serene expression, her hair combed in a chignon secured with a tiara and surrounded by fifteen rows of minute emanations of Syamatara, in cotton and silk mounting.
German private collection, assembled before 1990 - Minor wear, traces of age.
