Ink and gouache on canvas paper, four-part, framed under glass. On a black background, a phönx standing under a large flowering tree on a rock amidst blooming peonies, surrounded by carnations, mandarin ducks and peacocks. Sitting in the branches and flying around other pairs of birds. Lower right a signature: "chen Wang Chengpei gong hua" (respectfully painted by Wang Chengpei), followed by two seals: "chen", "Pei", repeatlly sealed lower left.
