Description:
Japan, 19th and early 20th c.H. 8,7 x 11,3 und 9 x 9 cm
a) Carved in relief to both sides with a phoenix spreading out its wing amidst scrolls and surrounded by a pattern of large interlocking circles, covered with green lacquer on a golden ground, modern malachite ojime. b)with a sparrow and a crane applied in two different kinds of wood, eyes of mother-of-pearl, and two insects of mother-of-pearl on the top of the lid.
