Under a wutong tree, a pair of phönix birds standing on a rock amidst flowering peonies, surrounded by another four pairs of birds of cranes, mandarin ducks, stilts and orioles. These birds symbolise the five basic relationships (wu lun) of Confucianism between ruler and subject, father and son, husband and wife, older and younger brother and between friends. Titled: "Depiction of Fünf Relationships", signature: "In the winter month of the dinghai year (1887) painted by Yu Chun in Zhushan". Wooden stand carved in openwork.
